Week 4 - Maxwelton Remodel

Well it's week four of our remodel at Maxwelton.  At times it looks like we haven't made progress but then I look at the new concrete forms and realize the guys have been busy.  The goal this week is to complete the upper BBQ area forms and pour the new concrete.  You can see in the photo above all the new forming for the new BBQ area.  It'll be great to see the concrete truck later this week and eventually watch the forms disappear!

This picture doesn't look like much but the trench dug today adds a lot of value to our project.  This trench will carry the new gas pipe that feeds the new fire pit and BBQ.  The guys dug the trench today from the gas meter along the side of the house to both the lower & upper sections of the patio.  I'm looking forward to enjoying a warm fire at night or lighting my BBQ without propane tanks!

This is an interesting photo.  The view is looking up from the lower portion of the backyard to a new retaining wall that supports the upper BBQ area.  Most of the vines and vegetation growing on the hillside were removed to make way for the forms supporting the new concrete.  It looks odd now but I know eventually the vines will return along the hillside.

Here's a pile of concrete that represents a weeks worth of demo. I'm surprised the guys left the concrete on the ground below our house.  They usually bring in a dump truck and place the concrete directly in the truck.  Anyone need a bunch of concrete?

  1. Nope no concrete for me! I bet you could sell that on Craigslist or give it away for free on there and people would haul it away for you. Can't wait for the next update!
