The construction crew at Garden Lights made great progress this week. Demolition of the old patio and deck is complete. We're thankful we don't hear the jack-hammer sounds anymore now that the old concrete has been removed. This view is looking down (towards the City of Oakland) in the place of the old deck and patio.
In this photo you can see the framing for the new stairs. The wooden forms hold the new concrete that we expect to be pored in the next 2 weeks. These stairs will take you from the patio to the lower portion of the house and the side yard. The construction team expects to complete the remaining framing for the new patio next week.
Here's a photo of the side yard and the old concrete that was broken up for removal.
I love this photo. You can easily see where the old deck was attached to the house (white strip along the house). Do you notice the piece of plywood up against the kitchen door? The crew nailed the plywood to the outside of the house to keep someone from walking out the kitchen door and into mid-air! Dexter still thinks he can go outside to the deck through the kitchen door. I've opened the door twice to show him the deck has been removed... I don't think he gets it.
